62-67 Nova Classic Update Wiring Harness

The Classic Update Series is a complete wiring system in a box!

That means it includes everything you need to modernize your classic vehicle: Headlight, Dimmer, and Ignition switches; Boots, Tubes, and Grommets; Fuses, Relays, and Flashers; Original Connectors, Terminals, and Disconnects.

Kit Includes:

  1. New headlight switch with internal 30amp circuit breaker, retention collar nut, adjustable length shaft, and custom knob.
  2. Standard turn signal flasher, hazard flasher and horn relay mounted on harness.
  3. NEW 18 Circuit compact ATO-Style fuse panel that is fully encased in a closed box assembly with two mounting pads. The fuse coverlid is labeled on the inside identifying all circuits by description and their respective fuse ratings. All high amperage output circuits incorporate the same superior spring steel reinforced terminals that are used in our Highway Series kits. This kit also utilizes a remote bulkhead assembly that mounts in the stock location. All required hardware supplied. Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after market accessories such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems, etc.
  4. Original switch connector bodies - an American Autowire exclusive feature.
  5. Steering column connectors can plug directly into most aftermarket steering columns or stock 1962-67 GM columns that use stock GM turn signal switches.
  6. Separate under dash courtesy lamps for use along with your original dome/interior lighting.
  7. Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a cluster harness disconnect system for easy service and assembly. Original terminals, connectors (another American Autowire exclusive), and light sockets are supplied for stock cluster connections. The system will also connect into most popular aftermarket gauges such as AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, VDO and others.
  8. Rear body harness assembly plugs into the main harness in the stock location and our longer leads allow for stock or custom routing the wires. Rear body wiring includes backup lamp, stop, turn and tail lamp lead wires along with their correct light sockets, license plate lamp connection wire, and fuel tank sender wire and connection along with the proper trunk floor grommet.
  9. New floor dimmer switch is provided. Wire length and connection accommodate original floor mount dimmer switch.
  10. New ignition switch, tumbler and key are provided.
  11. GM bulkhead connectors for the engine and front light wiring are included (another American Autowire exclusive) and allow for easy installation with original or custom routing.
  12. Engine wiring includes connectors for original points type as well as H.E.I. distributors. Power and tach connectors supplied for GM H.E.I. distributors. Alternator connectors are supplied for GM SI series internally regulated alternators. GM CS series alternator adapter is available separately.
  13. Front lighting includes extra long leads that can be routed for stock or optional appearances. All headlight, park light and directional light connectors and terminals are provided along with a switched trigger wire for an electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC).
  14. Original style light sockets, connectors, terminals, etc. packed into every aspect of this harness, it makes it the most complete system of its type in the industry!

NOTE: These kits are recommended for MODIFIED original vehicles, not OEM restoration projects. Note: This wiring is designed to work on Internally regulated alternator and have a 12v feed for the coil/distributor/ignition box. This kit IS NOT set up with a resistance wire for a standard, points type ignition system. It is wired with a full 12 volt primary ignition feed that is hot in both the start and run positions. It will support HEI, MSD, other electronic ignition systems, as well as computerized Fuel Injec- tion systems. If you wish to run a points type system, there are illustrations on the engine connection pages to do so. Extra parts that are not included in this kit will be required to complete that operation. (see our other items).

The early GM/FORD generators and externally regulated alternators are just not up to the task of providing power to an expanded wiring system like these classic update kits. The point of this kind of kit is really to allow people a way to upgrade and expand their wiring system and so an alternator upgrade is usually part and parcel to this kind of upgrade.

Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after market accessories such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems, etc.

5. Steering column connectors will plug directly into most after market steering columns as well as 1969 and later GM columns which utilize stock GM turn signal switches The original column can also be wired by using the supplied mating connector and terminals.

7. Along with wiring for your original dome/interior lighting, we have included separate underdash light sockets.

8. Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a "cluster harness disconnect" system for easy service and assembly. All original terminals, connectors (exclusively from American Autowire), and light sockets are also supplied for original cluster gauges. However, the best aspect of the disconnect system is that any gauge cluster package can be easily and neatly wired in. This includes AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, COVAN CLASSICS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, and VDO just to name a few. (see our other items)

9. New ignition switch is included with indexed connector. Additionally the system comes with column mounted ignition switch connectors for adapting late model columns (67-68 models).

10. Rear body harness assembly is designed to plug into the main harness in the original connector bodies. Flexibility in harness design allows for original or custom routing. Rear body wiring includes backup light wires and mating connectors for backup light leads. License plate lead, connectors, and terminals included. Fuel tank sender wire and terminal included.

11. EXCLUSIVE! Youll find all the original style light socket pigtails packed into every aspect of this system making it the most complete system of its type in the industry!
