NEW DSE SUBFRAME

Detroit Speed and Engineering’s all new front subframe is a bolt in replacement for the original stock subframe and improves the handling and ride quality by utilizing DSE’s unique suspension geometry. It is the only subframe in the aftermarket industry with hydroformed frame rails. The hydroformed frame rails feature strength and stiffness, relatively low weight, and precise quality and repeatability. Hydroforming preserves the steel’s strength and stiffness because it is performed at low temperatures, unlike traditional high temperature processes which decrease material strength.

These subframes utilizes a coilover shock/spring, rack and pinion steering, and splined sway bar. A 10" wide wheel can be packaged and the subframe comes assembled as an entire system. Both main and secondary crossmembers are stamped for structural rigidity. SBC, BBC, and LSX engines have been designed into this subframe.

The DSE subframe has been designed, engineered, and developed for the road and track. This subframe blends the benefits of current OEM technology and aftermarket performance into one product.

COILOVER CONVERSION KIT

 

The coilover conversion kit contains everything needed to complete the Detroit Speed & Engineering coilover conversion:

This kit includes:

This kit includes all the brackets, shocks, springs, and instructions to convert your car to a true coilover shock/spring. DSE's coilover conversion kit is designed around these Koni monotube shocks which have four position external rebound control. Kit also includes front coilover springs with a matched spring-rate for your specific engine application.

TUBULAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS

 

The Detroit Speed and Engineering control arm kit is a complete and comprehensive package. DSE has done all the engineering and testing, and supplies all parts needed to complete the installation. All you will need to do is follow the instructions and supply the grease. Installation should take less than one day and should be followed by a professional alignment.

The Detroit Speed and Engineering upper control arm kit is a bolt on enhancement for 1967-1969 Camaros / Firebirds and 1968-1974 Novas. Suspension geometry is improved over stock by increasing camber gain and improving roll camber. DSE's upper control arms have been computer modeled and the components have undergone finite element analysis. The control arms have CNC stainless steel cross shafts which incorporate DSE's 'Caster Tuner Bushings'. These aluminum bushings adjust caster by moving the upper control arm fore/aft for more or less caster without adding alignment shims. This unique caster adjustment design is engineered to be precise and permanent. The upper control arms also utilize DSE designed bushings. These greaseable aluminum/Delrin bushings have an increased stiffness over stock. This provides more consistent and precise handling. The bushings also have CNC machined bevel stainless washers and stainless ny-lock nuts.

The upper control arms have CNC machined tube ends for precision fits. The arms are then TIG welded in a fixture for accuracy and repeatability of geometry. The ball joint pocket is CNC machined from billet for increased strength. The arms are powder coated gloss black and come assembled with ball joints. Two sets of 'Caster Tuner Bushings' are included. The Detroit Speed and Engineering upper control arms are ready to bolt on!

TUBULAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS

TUBULAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS

Detroit Speed and Engineering's tubular lower control arms replace stock lower control arms on 1967-1969 Camaro/Firebirds and 1968-1974 Novas. These new tubular lower control arms are shipped complete with lower ball joints, steering stops, jounce bumpers and are ready to install on your car. Features include a robust tubular design with gussets and cross brace, Delrin bushings with steel housings and crush tubes, and a black powder coat finish. The geometry features include additional positive caster and a dropped spring pocket compared to stock. These lower control arms are available with either a conventional lower coil spring pocket or a double shear mount for DSE's coilover kit.

The conventional lower coil spring pocket is shown in the second picture on the left. This style features a stamped steel pocket with a positive spring locating feature and nutserts for the shock lower attachment.

The coilover spring pocket lower control arm is designed to work with DSE's coilover kit.

The Detroit Speed and Engineering coilover kit is designed to convert your stock front subframe to a true coilover shock/spring. Additionally, it provides a new upper control arm mounting plate that is relocated to a new position to improve geometry by raising the front roll center.

The kit includes:
- Upper control arm mounting plates that include
  upper coilover mount brackets
- Stamped steel rings that trim the pass-through of
  the coilover shock through the subframe
- Fasteners
- Fixture to locate the new upper control arm
  brackets in position
 

All brackets are laser cut. The brackets are completely TIG welded in fixtures for precise and repeatable locating. The upper and lower coilover mounts are positioned so that lower ride heights can be obtained without sacrificing ride travel, based on a 4" stroke shock. This conversion allows you to easily adjust ride height and spring rate to suit your driving needs.

These Koni aluminum body monotube shocks have a unique Detroit Speed and Engineering valving that is designed to work ideally with the DSE coilover kit. Koni is the leader in shock absorber development, durability, and tuning. These shocks have four-position rebound adjustability and give you the best balance between handling performance and ride quality.

The high-pressure gas monotube design has several benefits over a twin-tube shock absorber.

 

- Better force vs. velocity damping repeatability

- Reduced fade valving over time and heat

- The shocks can be mounted upside down (as in 
  our coilover conversion kit), lowering the unsprung
  mass of the vehicle.

 "EACH". To purchase a pair of shocks, you
  must enter a quantity of "2".

Improve cornering and reduce body roll with this 1 1/8" diameter hollow sway bar. This larger than stock bar is powder coated black and comes with everything you need to bolt it on including greaseable polyurethane bushings and end links. Tested to assure optimal performance with DSE front suspension kits.

LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS

 

Improve your handling and steering feel with Detroit Speed and Engineering's own lower control arm bushings. Our lower control arm bushings consist of a steel housing with a Delrin bushing and a steel crush tube. All parts are CNC machined and come with stainless steel grease fittings.

Unlike aluminum bushings, our steel outer housing can be tack welded to the lower control arm if desired. This is beneficial because production variation and years of service can distort the lower control arm bushing bore. After pressing the housing in place, it can then be tack welded in your lower control arm. This provides a precise and long lasting fit.

The steel crush tube is always plated in a zinc electroplate with a yellow chromate finish to insure corrosion resistance.
